Higher gas prices appear to be nudging more shoppers toward electric vehicles, even as broader EV sales growth has cooled. According to the latest U.S. Electric Vehicle Consideration Study from J.D. Power, 26 percent of new-vehicle shoppers said they were “very likely” to consider purchasing an EV in April 2026, up three percentage points from March.
