The Black Economic Council of Massachusetts (BECMA) is advancing inclusive prosperity across the Commonwealth by building the systems, partnerships, and pathways needed for Black communities to thrive. Based in Boston and working statewide, BECMA drives economic equity through advocacy, programming, and strategic collaboration—helping ensure that opportunity isn’t limited by race, geography, or access to capital.

BECMA’s work centers on strengthening the long-term success of Black-owned businesses and entrepreneurs while addressing the structural barriers that limit wealth-building and economic mobility. Through its programming and partnerships, BECMA supports business growth, fosters workforce opportunity, and elevates the visibility of Black economic leadership across Massachusetts.

In recent years, BECMA has also played a growing role in shaping how institutions approach supplier diversity and contracting equity, helping organizations move beyond performative commitments toward practical systems that expand contracting access and create measurable economic outcomes. Their work helps connect buyers with qualified Black-owned firms and supports more equitable procurement structures that can strengthen communities for the long term.

BECMA’s impact is grounded in action: the organization has earned support from public and philanthropic partners to expand technical assistance and tools for small Black-owned businesses—further accelerating business resilience, growth, and access to opportunity.
